Home brewed beer from the Passeiertal
The Brückenwirt brewery in the Passeiertal uses only the best ingredients
The home brewed Höllenbräu beer from the Brückenwirt brewery in the Passeiertal is made using only the best ingredients such as hops and malt. The beer is brewed in small copper cauldrons right before your eyes in accordance with the German purity law of 1516. The purity law guarantees the use of crystal clear Passeier mountain water, hops, malt and special beer yeast. The fermentation process takes four to six days.
The beer is then stored for up to six weeks, after which time it is poured into wooden barrels from which it is then freshly tapped. There are only 50 (!) breweries worldwide that use this special wooden barrel technique. The filling and care of the wooden barrels is very labour intentsive. It is perhaps for this reason that we are the only ones keeping this tradition alive in Italy.
