Excursions in the South Tyrolean Passeiertal
The Passeiertal in Merano county is the ideal starting point for excursion to Merano and Bolzano
Excursion to Merano and its surroundings (ca. 17 km)
The spa town of Merano is famous for its promenades along the river Passer, the splendid botanical gardens of Trauttmansdorff castle, the pedestrian promenade above the roofs of the old town, the enchanting town theatre, the wonderful spa hall and infinite shopping possibilities.
Excursion to Bolzano (ca. 50 km)
A short distance from the Passeiertal is the regional capital Bolzano, an ancient trading city which straddles two cultures. In Bolzano you will find the magnificent gothic church, the picturesque Obstplatz the Walterplatz, the legendary rose garden, the Ötzi museum, Sigmundskron castle and much much more.
Excursion to Sterzing (ca. 42 km)
The tiny town of Sterzing in the Eisacktal is the perfect place for a stroll down varied shopping streets with many elegant shops and marvellous facades.
Excursion to the Vinschgau (ca. 40 km)
A must see in the Vinschgau are the century old irrigation channels, König Ortler and lake Reschen, as well as the many museums and castles.
